Twisted Cot
Stiff wire frame in the cell was collapsed flat on the flags. Bad bunk. A resting spot cannot sag. I leaned the heavy cleaver upright against the cell wall. Planted my broad feet wide. Gripped the buckled iron rail with both fists. Hauled upward with full back heave. Rusted joints groaned, screeched, then snapped straight. Pounded the support braces true with heavy downward knuckles. Rigid now. Snatched the cleaver back into two hands. Solid bunk ready.
