Runway in Blue Chalk
I found a chunky piece of blue sidewalk chalk resting by the edge of the playground asphalt. Gripping the dusty cylinder with both of my gloved hands, I dragged it across the rough gray surface. It left behind a bold, powdery trail with a satisfying raspy scritch! I pressed down firmly to sketch two long, parallel guide lines, topping them off with a neat chevron arrow pointing ahead. Stepping back to admire my miniature runway, I lined up my red shoes at the threshold and gave my twin tails a spirited whirr, dashing down the chalk lane like an airplane clearing for takeoff.
