The Dancing Rainbow
A tiny patch of colored light was trembling right across the floorboards... red, gold, bright violet. I paused, tilting my head... watching it shiver. Was it alive? Slowly, I crept forward and pressed a rounded paw down to trap it. But the colors didn't run... they just climbed right over my plush fingers, painting my fur with violet stripes. A quiet gasp escaped me. Right beside my toes sat a heavy, faceted glass bead catching the noon sun. I leaned close, nudging the cold glass with both paws. It rolled with a soft clink... and across the rug, the rainbow leaped right up to the wall.
