A Hollow Click
Wiggling out from under the coffee table, I crept toward the gentle radiator hum to get properly dry. Right against the warm skirting board lay an abandoned wooden domino piece, face-down. I paused, inspecting the dry grain before giving one edge a polite nudge with my nose. It flipped over with a sharp, hollow clack, revealing five carved black dots arranged in a tidy square and center. Delighted by the familiar spots, I nudged my plush front paws right against its smooth pine edge to soak up the heat.
