Stomping the Switch
The corner of the room was getting pitch-black, and I wasn't about to stumble around blindly in the dark. Right against the skirting board, a chunky black floor switch sat along the lamp cord, just daring someone to challenge it. I squared my shoulders, backed up two solid paces, and launched myself straight down onto the rounded button with both feet. A loud, heavy click snapped through the quiet room, and a flood of warm golden light burst down across the floorboards. I planted my feet firmly on top of the conquered pedal, basking in the glow like I owned the entire place.
