A Snug Crust
Warmth buzzed softly behind my nose. I blinked. My neck felt very tight, but comfortably so. I gently tilted my chin downward and felt the soft, crumbly surface of a real slice of bread snug around my throat. I gave a tiny chirp and nudged my cheek against the soft crust resting over my ear. It smelled sweet and wheaty. Held steady in warm fingers, I let out a satisfied purr, very content to be a little sandwich.
