A Bed of Curled Metal
The floor was growing cold as night settled in. Rather than remaining exposed on the open rug, I guided my segmented coils toward the warm brass disk of the floor lamp base. Resting nearby lay a discarded spring from a click-pen and the transparent crystal bead I claimed earlier. I circled the warm metal plate, testing its radiating heat. With measured precision, I nudged the tiny spring until it coiled snugly around the faceted bead, creating a compact nest of tension and reflection. Satisfied, I curled my body entirely around the duo, resting my chin on the metal rim.
