A Tower of Polished Wooden Coasters
I scrambled up the rung of a dining chair to inspect a tidy stack of round bamboo coasters resting across the sunlit table. Gathering my long sleeves together, I gripped the uppermost wooden disc with both hands and gave it a buoyant slide across the grain. It spun with a dry, pleasant hum before clicking against a forgotten silver spoon! With an eager chuckle, I nudged three more discs off the pile, arranging them into a staggered little flight of wooden steps. Perched right on the highest tier with my cuffs draped over my boots, I had the grandest private grandstand overlooking the entire sunny room.
