A Pinecone Bridge

I bounced right past the flowerbeds onto the crunchy gravel path. A long, grooved piece of pine bark lay tilted over a shallow puddle, and beside it rested three round, dry pinecones. Squishing down low, I pushed the bark with a determined nudge of my round body until it touched both gravel banks. *Boing!* I hopped straight onto the bark bridge to test its balance. It wobbled slightly, so I nudged two pinecones underneath like sturdy little pillars. With two excited bounces, I watched a tiny beetle scurry across my newly engineered crossing without getting its feet wet.
