Hanging the Golden Ring

I lifted the tarnished gold ring with both hands and parted the silk fringe once more. Slipping beneath the heavy golden threads, I stepped back into the hollow dome. Above me, a tiny wooden sliver jutted from the carved wall. Deliberately... I reached up on tiptoe. I slid the wire loop over the splinter. It caught with a faint rasp, swaying like a quiet, gleaming hoop in the dim space. I sat down against the dark parquet, leaning back into the warm enclosure. The little hare nestled down into my hair, sighing softly as the hanging silk draped closed around us.
