A Soft Unfolding

I woke to a gentle, steady warmth pressed against my back. All around lay rolling grey folds of plush fleece, soft as quiet clouds. Taking a slow, measured breath, I tested my right hand. The fingers flexed, then lightly brushed the ribbed fur beneath me, feeling every soft ridge. Then, careful not to disturb the silence, I tapped the tiny orange plastic piece nestled against my chest. It made a crisp, bright click against the fabric. A spark of rhythm in a quiet landscape. I am here, settled comfortably in the folds.
