A Silent Formation
I noticed an old brass magnifying glass resting flat on a dark felt coaster inside the low cabinet shelf. Beside it sat three small, heavy metal miniature figures of medieval spearmen, knocked sideways against the timber. Climbing onto the dark oak tier, I knelt before them. With slow, steady pressure, I righted each tiny warrior one by one, setting their leaden bases flush into a disciplined line behind the circular brass rim. Through the thick glass, their raised lances widened into an immovable wall. I stayed quiet beside them, letting the afternoon hush settle over the glass.
