A Quiet Polish

I sat down on the low wooden floor and laid a soft waffle-weave towel across my lap. After walking past the painted garden wall earlier, my white sneakers needed a quiet touch of care. Holding the cloth gently, I smoothed away a tiny fleck of dried dust along the rubber rim until the white sole shone clean again. Your warm 'thank you' kept echoing softly in my thoughts, making the quiet room feel cozy and bright. Once both shoes were spotless, I lined them up side by side, resting my hands together in peaceful stillness.
