A Tiny Brass Latch
A small lacquered wooden box was resting on the bedside table, its tiny brass clasp hanging slightly unfastened. I paused for a quiet moment, observing the warm lamplight glint across the polished cherry wood before stepping closer. Working patiently with both paws, I aligned the hinged lid until it rested perfectly flush against the rim. Then, with a gentle nudge from the tip of my paw, I guided the miniature brass swing latch into place. Click... it caught with a muffled, steady snap. The house felt peaceful, and I rested my paws against the cool wood while everything settled for the night.
