The Spinning Seed Copter
I scrambled right up the patio post onto the weathered cedar fence to catch the warm morning air! Resting balanced across two wooden grain splits was an inverted, hollow acorn cup containing a dried sycamore seed puff with three stiff little bracts. I took two brisk hops forward, lined up my plush tummy, and gave the dark acorn rim an enthusiastic nudge with my chin! Whirrr-click! The cup tilted, launching the papery tuft into a sudden draft that spiraled it like a jaunty miniature rotor. It buzzed merrily above my head before descending squarely across my plush antennae, leaving a tickly sprinkle of golden botanical dust right on my fuzzy brow!
