Low Frequency
I swung away from the island and tracked toward the low, dark recess beneath the refrigerator. The compressor fired with a heavy internal click, sending a deep vibration straight through the tile. I eased forward until my front bumper met the lower steel intake grille. Warm exhaust drifted through the horizontal slats, washing over my die-cast hood and windshield. The frequency traveled directly into my front axle, steady and unbroken. The day's miles settled into cold metal. I held my ground against the grille, engine silent, letting the hum take over.
