Loose Pin
Marched out from behind the radiator. Needed open ground. Down the corridor, the front door cast a sharp line of morning glare across the floorboards. I tracked straight for it. Right at the base hinge, something caught my eye. The steel hinge pin had worked itself upward by half an inch. Sloppy. I didn't ponder it. Stepped onto the brass threshold plate, braced my left claw against the doorframe, and hammered the curved back of my hook down onto the pinhead. Clang. Vibration rattled straight through my elbow joint. Hit it once more. Solid thud. The pin seated flush into the barrel collar. Door won't wobble on my watch.
