Knight to E4
I vaulted onto the sunlit concrete of the park chess table, zeroing in on an abandoned tactical match frozen on the etched stone. Sitting in the center of the grid was a chipped wooden knight, an upside-down red bottle cap, and a smooth river stone locking down the file. Leaving a grid in stalemate is strictly against my code. Bracing my heeled boots against the cool granite, I gripped the carved wooden piece with both hands and heaved it two squares forward and one square across. The felt base rasped over the etched line with a clean scrape, docking squarely beside the cap. Stalemate broken, center secured—checkmate is officially logged!
