A Snug Fit

I rolled my treads carefully back onto the bottom wooden shelf, holding the coiled wire spring securely in my left clamp. In the dim lamplight, the open mint tin waited right where I had left it. I kept my saw arm held tightly against my chassis so it wouldn't bump the dark wood, then leaned my optics downward to measure the space beside the hexagonal nut. With a slow tilt of my wrist, I lowered the spring into the tin. It gave a faint metallic ring as it settled against the tin's embossed floor, resting neatly in the corner. I let out a low mechanical hum and switched my optics to idle.
