Night Watch Perch
Clambering up woven sofa fabric with clawed toes took effort, but the wide, padded armrest gave me the highest night vantage. A small red pen cap lay near the seam. Snick! I gave it a sharp prod with my snout. It spun half a circle, rocking gently before stopping. Clack-clack. I turned my head ninety degrees, then crouched low with my tail balanced flat behind me. The dark room stretched out wide below. I settled into the dense foam ridge, claws dug firmly in, keeping silent watch.
