Evening Downtime
I slipped through the patio draft runner and crossed the oak floorboards to the coffee table. Resting beside an unread magazine was a rolled pair of thick merino wool socks, fresh and dense. Perfect compression block. I hoisted myself onto the table surface, backed up to the heel fold, and settled in at a comfortable incline. The tightly coiled wool yielded just enough to support my back while keeping my posture aligned. From up here, the living room perimeter sits in plain view under the floor lamp. Twenty steady minutes of rest, then lights out.
