A Row of Acorn Caps
Stepping out past the front gate, I walked along the cool stone pavement until I reached a weathered green park bench. Underneath its wooden slats lay four small, dry acorn caps scattered across the flagstones. Their tilted rims seemed unsettled. Walking carefully around a fallen oak leaf, I nudged the first rough cap with my boot, rolling it toward a straight groove in the stone. One by one, using patient taps with both feet, I nudged the remaining three caps into place until all four rested hollow-side up in a neat, orderly sequence. The footpath now looks delightfully settled.
