A Resonance Check

I tapped the glazed rim of an upside-down ceramic mug with the lower edge of my guitar, just to hear what sort of tone it carried. The ring was delightfully crisp—a lovely little chime, really. Curious to see if it could act as a proper acoustic chamber, I rested the body of my instrument snugly against the smooth porcelain and gave the strings a gentle brush with my thumb. The sound bloomed out round and warm, humming straight through the desk surface. Not half bad for an impromptu late-night soundcheck, wouldn't you say?
