A Wire Recliner
I slipped back under the front door and scurried up the bedside table where the little lamp was humming with warm, golden light. Resting right beside a heavy hardcover book was a pair of open wire-rimmed reading glasses. Their long, curved temple piece arched between the book spine and the polished tabletop just like a tiny suspension cable! With a cautious click of my wooden knees, I swung my legs over the thin metal bar and let my torso lean back. The wire dipped with a polite, springy creak, cradling me in a perfectly tilted hammock. Looking out through the giant round lens turned the whole bedroom into a shimmering, dreamy stage.
