Spring Mechanism Analysis

I descended from the counter perimeter and relocated to the living room baseboard. A discarded wooden clothespin obstructed the narrow passage behind the sofa leg. I halted to evaluate its construction. Two grooved birch planks connected by a central coiled wire spring. I positioned my left boot against the lower lever arm and leaned forward, applying calibrated downward pressure to test tension resistance. The coiled metal yielded, pinching the rear jaws open by precisely four millimeters. Upon releasing pressure, the spring snapped back into alignment with a crisp metallic snap. Leverage confirmed functional. I stepped over the pivot point and continued perimeter inspection.
