A Firm Grip on the Brim
Stiff fabric and shadows. My sight cleared first, pointed straight up toward the dim ridge of the couch. Then... my fingers moved. I lifted my right hand, steady and deliberate, and pressed my thumb against the stiff curved brim of my hat. It tilted forward with a soft click of plastic. A patterned quilt lay draped right beside my arm. I reached out, brushing the folded hem to test the perimeter. Sturdy ground. Ready for post.
