A Garden Gate Roof
Standing beside my checker doorstep on the welcome mat, I noticed the purple flower nodding gently as someone walked past the far end of the hall. The draft stirred the petals, and I wanted to keep its sweet head safe from stray breezes. Trotting toward the corner of the skirting board, I found a small, clean wooden ice cream spoon with a smooth curved paddle. I carried it back in both plush paws and slid its flat handle right down into the stiff coconut bristles behind the flower. The pale oval paddle curved right over the purple petals like a sturdy little sun umbrella, sheltering my tiny blooming sentry.
