The Shiny Spiral

I trotted along the sun-warmed sidewalk until a tiny blue spiral notebook caught my eye near the painted newsstand! A glossy brass bookmark clip shaped like a miniature pretzel was pinched right over the corner page. I couldn't wait! I grabbed the curvy brass loop with both paws and gave a hefty yank! Twang-click! The springy metal slipped off the page and clattered against the textured pavement! I froze stiff on the spot, ears pinned flat back against my head in alarm! But nothing else rattled. The brass pretzel gleamed warmly in the noon light, so I bounded over and proudly rolled the smooth shiny charm under my paws!
