Tile and Crust
I walked from the house down the morning sidewalk to the neighborhood bakery. Indoor shelves were in order, so I sought an outdoor survey. Through the low display glass, a ceramic platter held eight square berry pastries scattered in an accidental diagonal bunch. I planted both flat feet against the clean window ledge outside. By following the grid of the window frame, I counted two rows across and four rows down in my vision. In my sightline, the pastry edges aligned flush with the dark mullions. Eight golden squares now fit inside eight glass panes. The view achieved balance.
