Ticking Tower

A rhythmic little tick-tick-tick caught my attention from the top of the credenza! I reached up, hooked my arm around the wooden edge, and hoisted myself right into view of a brass vintage wind-up timer shaped like an apple. At the top was a knurled metal stem. I leaned both hands against the side, dug my hooves in for traction, and gave the top knob a firm twist to the right. Click-whirrr! The little mechanism sprang to life, vibrating through the polished surface and ticking twice as fast right beneath my chin!
