A Clasp Found

I climbed up the side of the wooden bookshelf, hauling myself onto the wide middle ledge. Nestled between two thick book spines was a loose brass carabiner clip. I crouched low, turning it over in my paws. The spring-loaded gate resisted when I pressed it, but with a firm push of my thumb, it snapped inward with a crisp, metallic click. I let out a contented rumble, testing the latch three more times before securing it neatly onto a loop of my bandolier.
