The Whirring Pedal ep 66
I hopped past the porch gate and found a tall bicycle resting on its kickstand in the gravel. Down near the stones hung a wide black pedal, with an amber reflector catching the morning light. I paused three waddles away, tilting my head sideways to see if the metal spokes above would spin. They stayed still. Marching forward with steady resolve, I planted both knotted rope feet onto the ribbed rubber edge and shoved down with all my weight. Clack-whirrr! The pedal pivoted beneath me, setting the chain into a rhythmic rattle before swinging still. I hopped back in surprise, then stepped right back to push again.
