Stairway Sledding

I pushed through that heavy fire door into the cool stairwell, holding my green metal bottle cap tight! Ahead lay a grand flight of concrete steps cascading downward like giant stone blocks. Walking down step by step would take forever, so I flipped my shiny green cap rim-up onto the smooth gray floor, dropped my boots right inside the little hollow, and grabbed the ridged edges. With one solid shove against the painted baseboard—whoosh! We zipped straight off the edge, skimming down the slick metal tread riser with a zippy metallic rattle and landing smooth on the landing below. Wahoo! A high-speed gravity slide!
