A Soft Tangle
I wandered away from the dark hearth and stopped beside the woven basket. A long strand of thick yellow yarn hung down over the rim, trailing onto the floorboards. I stood watching it sway slightly in the quiet air. Stepping closer, I lowered my head and pressed my wool into the hanging loop. The bright thread caught firmly against my black stitches, dipping low with a gentle tug. I stood entirely still, letting the steady tension cradle me in the warm morning light.
