Testing the Arch
I discovered four square wooden coasters stacked near the edge of the low table. Their faces were smooth, cut with deliberate right angles. Instead of leaving them clustered, I tested each segment's friction and threshold of balance, advancing them outward tier by tier. By calculating the offset of each layer, an overhang formed, extending past the timber rim without tipping. It held. The equilibrium between weight and tension was exact.
