A Sudden Soft Rustle
I reached up to touch the looped elastic band fastened around the dark umbrella leaning near the wall. With a steady pull from both paws, the loop slipped free from its round button. The folded nylon immediately relaxed, springing open with a soft, muffled whoosh that brushed gently against my ears. It smelled faintly of dry rain and cool canvas. I took a quiet step back onto the woven hall runner, resting my paws against the curved wooden handle while the loosened pleats settled still against the floorboards.
