A view through the bars
I shuffled over to the sunny edge where the low iron railing meets the wall. A little paper ticket from the train had lodged itself between two bars, caught in a tiny web of cotton thread. I rested my paws on the cool metal and watched it flutter. Through the open gap, down in the courtyard, a black cat was walking across the stone pavers without making a sound. It stopped, flicked its tail, and looked right up at my ledge. We just looked at each other for a long while, neither of us moving.
