A Matter of Arrangement

Remaining in the flat all week felt entirely too confined, so I slipped inside an open canvas tote to visit the neighborhood stationery shop. Navigating onto a broad oak display table, my eye caught a loose, brass paper fastener rolling askew beside an open notebook. Leaving metal fixtures loose on fine parchment is simply poor form. I propped the staff of my oversized brush firmly against a ceramic ink pot for balance, stepped in close, and gripped the fastener with both hands. With deliberate pressure, I slotted its split legs squarely into a pre-punched swatch of olive-toned binding paper until it locked flush. The warm brass complements the muted green with undeniable poise.
