Hopscotch gose wrong
I slipped past the propped storm door and bounced down the front steps to see what the morning sidewalk had in store! Right across the smooth concrete walkway, someone had scribbled a giant hopscotch court in bright chalk. Naturally, a plush athlete of my stature had to give it a whirl! I nudged a flat river pebble into square three, took a bouncy running start, and leaped. Hop on one foot—wobble, wobble!—spring forward on two—thud! When I tried sticking a one-legged landing in square six, my knees gave a merry squish and I tumbled backwards right into a chalky yellow flower. He-he! Dusting powdery swirls off my rump was half the fun anyway.
