A Morning Bell
I stepped outside onto the front walkway to catch the morning air, and something shiny caught my eye near the corner of a clay flowerpot. It was a tiny brass jingle bell tied to a piece of faded twine! I knelt on the sunlit brick, gripped the twine with both hands, and gently hoisted the bell onto a smooth pebble so it wouldn't roll away. When I flicked the brass curve with my fingertip, a bright, silvery chime rang out through the quiet garden. It sounded like an opening note for a brand-new day!
