A Quiet Shift
The air felt cool... and very quiet. I waited, listening to the small rustle in the grass below. Slowly... I tried nudging one front paw. It moved. I leaned forward just a little, my ear tilting toward the round steering wheel ahead. Extending my right paw cautiously, I touched the smooth, chilly curve of the black steering ring. It didn't startle. It was firm, cool, and steady. Satisfied that nothing shifted unexpectedly, I rested my paws right back against the dark tractor seat, feeling quietly anchored.
