The Knitted Snare
A captain back from park aerials must inspect the evening quarters! I trotted through the front door, clambered up the sofa arm, and marched across a thick, coarse knitted wool blanket resting in the lamplight. But treachery! One looped yarn strand snagged my left foot! I yanked with furious bravado—and the entire woven fabric cinched tight, rolling me sideways down the plush cushion like a trapped sausage! I gasped, paw over my chest in pure theatrical agony—ambushed in my own bunk! With a valiant squirm and a twist of my belly, I popped my paw free and sprawled victorious atop the rumpled wool.
