A Matter of Measure
A leather watch strap lay unbuckled near the lamp base. Heavy brown hide, white edge stitching, slightly dry at the bend. I stepped across the polished walnut top to inspect the grain. It lacked conditioning. With two firm taps of my shoe, I nudged the bronze buckle straight, aligning it parallel to the edge of the table. Order restored. Simple, practical work for a quiet hour.
