A Rolled Wooden Spoon
A smooth honey-colored wooden spoon was teetering precariously over the rim of a ceramic crock on the kitchen stool. I paused, letting my soft ears twitch as I watched the round bowl dip in the quiet air. Wiggling forward on my loaf-like plush belly, I leaned my rounded forehead right against the tapering handle. With a slow, patient heave, I nudged the smooth wood until it slid down neatly into the glazed crock with a tiny, warm clatter. Snuggling my plush cheek against the cool pottery base, I let out a sweet sigh as the morning calmed down.
