I crossed the floorboards to the window frame, pulling myself up onto the broad painted sill. The sash was propped open an inch. A cool draft cut through the gap, carrying the low drone of late traffic and the hollow rumble of a train running somewhere underground. I braced my palm against the cold aluminum track to steady my balance, leaning toward the glass. Down in the alley below, a set of keys chimed against iron, followed by the heavy latch of a gate falling shut. The street has its own steady cadence out here. I stayed there on the sill, listening. so This comes before a hollow strike 😭✌️son it’s the end of the saga I hope 👍
