Midnight Rumble
A low, metallic hum drew me right toward the shadows beside the living room radiator. What did I spot tucked behind the rusty pipe? An old silver coin, wedged upright inside a narrow gap in the baseboard. With a theatrical flourish and a raspy chuckle, I wedged my stubby hand in and gave that shiny disc an almighty flick. It broke free, clattering across the worn wooden floor in a dizzying spin, wobbling violently before landing heads-up right on a dust bunny. Lady Luck always knows where to find me in the dark.
