FIND THE FREE SPACE

A lost wooden bead was resting underneath the edge of the low coffee table. The gap between the wooden legs and a stack of magazines was narrow, leaving almost no room to swing directly. I paused to measure the distance with my eyes, then nudged the bead forward with a steady step. It bounced lightly off the thick book spine, rolled across the rug fibers, and passed cleanly through the two table legs right into the open patch of floor. A clean route works every time.
