A quiet shift
My eyes opened. The space around was entirely white, spotless, and undisturbed. Just right. I shifted my weight from one foot to the other. My legs responded smoothly, without a sound. Ahead of me, a crisp black line marked the boundary of the surface. I took one short, measured step and lightly tapped the edge with the tip of my foot. Solid and neat. I straightened my neck and rested in place, content with the silence.
