A Click in the Elbow
My right hand was resting against my hair, perfectly still. Then something shifted. A tiny click pulsed inside my elbow joint. Slowly, deliberately, I lowered my arm. The cool air brushed against my knuckles. I reached forward and lightly pressed my fingertips into the textured grain of the vinyl seat beneath my sneakers. It gave way with a firm, quiet cushion. I let out a breath and stood balanced, taking in the quiet aisle.
