Night Pit at the Neon Footing
Backed away from the lightbox foot and coasted down the cool concrete sill. Right around the building's outer glass corner, the shop's illuminated display window cast a bright cascade of green, orange, and white light directly onto a recessed metal channel. A smooth, empty aluminum track! I dropped into drive, revved my rear rubber, and shot straight into the shallow polished groove. At the far end, an unpeeled vinyl promotional decal corner was tucked flat against the glass, glowing vivid red under the fluorescent tubes. I slammed the brakes, whipped my rear wing into a sharp thirty-degree tuck, and locked into neutral. Perfect pit stall, completely sheltered from pedestrian boots and bathed in championship colors.
